Ian Deiana is back at Coogee Wine Room by popular demand! Join us as Ian takes us on a tasting journey through Italy's stunning northern Fruili and Chianti regions.
We start our evening with wines form the Livon Estate, which is known as producing some of the best Friuli wines. A life-long story that has its roots in the family's passion and traditions: a true love for the homeland, Friuli or better the Collio and the Colli Orientali del Friuli, the far north-eastern corner of Italy and gateway to Eastern Europe.
Dorino Livon acquired his first vineyards on the Collio hills in 1964, and slowly, plot by plot he expands his property establishing the Azienda Agricola Livon estate. Sauvignon Blanc, Friulano DOC , Soluna di Malvasia Venezia Giulia IGT and Braide Alte Collio DOC.
We then head south to Chianti region of Tuscany to CASTELLO DI QUERCETO where the vineyards date back to a century or more.
The area known as Chianti Classico is of unspoilt natural beauty. The landscape is a charmingly harmonious assortment of vineyards, olive groves, woodlands, scattered romantic farmsteads, verdant hill country and fascinating Medieval hamlets.
The soil and climatic characteristics of the area are particularly suited to the production of superb wines.
The ‘star attraction’ of these vineyards is undoubtedly the Sangiovese grape, the main ingredient − and sometimes the only ingredient − of Chianti Classico wines.
Chef Greg has put together an Italian Inspired 3 course menu that perfectly pairs with these stunning wines that will make you feel like you are travelling through Italy……..
